You seldom need to reset the CK3X. However, you do need to reset the CK3X when an application is locked up and does not respond, when you upgrade the firmware, or when you reflash the CK3X. The CK3X uses the configuration currently saved in flash memory during the reset process.
There are three ways to reset the CK3X:
If your CK3X has a charged battery installed but does not resume after you press the Power key, or if the computer or an application is locked up, you may need to reboot the CK3X.
To reboot your CK3X:
The CK3X shuts down, restarts, and goes through the initialisation process.
If the CK3X or application is locked up and does not respond to a reboot, follow this procedure to perform a cold boot.

Warning Performing a cold boot may result in data loss. When you cold boot the CK3X, cached disk data may not be saved so transactional data may be lost. |
To cold boot your CK3X:
If the CK3X does not reboot or cold boot, you may need to perform a clean boot. When you clean boot the CK3X, the CK3X only loads files and applications that are absolutely required by the operating system. Perform a clean boot to get the CK3X up and running so that you can run diagnostic tests to troubleshoot the normal boot process.

|
Warning The clean boot process erases the CK3X memory, including all applications and data files in the object store. |
